Monday, July 10, 2017 - This morning, Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull issued a Summary Suspension Notice for the Sexy Café, 880 Maple Avenue, Hartford after receiving reports of a shooting inside the premises over the weekend.  On July 8, 2017 at approximately 1:38 a.m., Hartford Police officers responded to the premises on a report of a disturbance at the bar.  While on the scene, officers heard gunshots coming from inside the premises.  It was subsequently learned that a female patron had sustained a gunshot wound to the finger.  The case remains under investigation.

For details of the shooting investigation, please contact Hartford Police Deputy Chief Brian Foley.

As a result of the shooting, the Hartford Police Department requested that the Commissioner consider issuing a summary suspension of the premises.

“I am appreciative that the Hartford Police Department, particularly Chief James Rovella and Deputy Chief Joseph Buyak, brought this matter to my attention, and believe that this immediate suspension is justified and necessary to address this very serious situation,” said Commissioner Seagull.
The premises will remain closed until further notice.
