105 RESTAURANT AND LOUNGE CANCELS LIQUOR PERMIT

 Friday, March 24th 2017 – Yesterday afternoon, the owner of 105 Restaurant and Lounge agreed to and did withdraw its liquor permit application. The establishment was operating under a provisional (temporary) liquor permit.
 
On March 18, 2017 at approximately 1:43am the Meriden Police Department were notified of a shooting at the 105 Restaurant and Lounge, 105 Colony Street, in Meriden.  On March 20, 2017 the Meriden Police notified the Liquor Control Division of the shooting incident at this restaurant.
 
On March 21, 2017 the Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) Liquor Control met with the owner of the restaurant and a command officer from the Meriden Police Department in Hartford.  At the conclusion of the meeting, the owner agreed to immediately place his liquor permit under voluntary suspension and discontinue the service of alcoholic liquor on the premises. 
 
DCP continued its discussion with the ownership of the restaurant – and the establishment agreed to permanently cancel their liquor permit as a result. 
There was a remonstrance filed against the establishment. As the permit has been canceled, the remonstrance hearing will not proceed.
 
“I want to thank the Meriden Police Department for their cooperation on this matter, and am pleased we were able to settle it quickly,” said Consumer Protection Commissioner Jonathan A. Harris, “Our number one goal is to make sure that Connecticut residents feel safe, and in fact,  are safe in public establishments.”
