HARTFORD, April 23 -- The Department of Consumer Protection is reporting the results of two compliance checks it recently conducted this past weekend.
On the evening of Friday, April 19th agents from the Department’s Liquor Control Division and officers from the Seymour Police Department partnered with youth trained by the Governor’s Prevention Partnership to conduct compliance checks of all open grocery and package stores, and selected restaurants and bars in the town of Seymour. Of the twelve (12) establishments tested for compliance, four (4) failed by allegedly selling alcoholic beverages to a volunteer youth. The stores that allegedly failed are:
- Stop and Shop
- Boland’s Café
- Trestle Tavern
- Dewey’s
On the afternoon of Saturday, April 20th Liquor Control agents and officers from the Glastonbury Police Department conducted a series of compliance checks of all open grocery stores and package stores in the town of Glastonbury. Of the eleven (11) stores tested for compliance, it is alleged that two (2) stores failed by selling to a volunteer minor.
These are:
- Southside Wine and Spirits
- The Country Store
These six establishments are charged with selling liquor to a minor and will be scheduled for an administrative hearing before the Liquor Control Commission, where each will have the opportunity to address the charges.
