Disco Lights Sold Exclusively at Justice Stores are Recalled Due to Electrical Shock Hazard

HARTFORD, March 6 – The Department of Consumer Protection is alerting consumers about a recall of “Style My Room” disco lights, products aimed at pre-teens and teens and sold exclusively at Justice Stores. The electrical wiring in the lamp base is accessible and the lamp can overheat, posing an electrical shock hazard to consumers.

About 19,100 of the lamps, distributed by Tween Brands, Inc., of New Albany, Ohio, were sold at Justice nationwide and online at http://www.shopjustice.com from May through November 2012 for about $24. The lamps were made in China.

Two styles of the “Style My Room” disco lamps are being recalled: the black disco light (style 900528) and the star disco light (style 901651).  The recalled plastic lamps are about 7 inches tall and consist of a 4-inch diameter ball with multi-colored disco lights atop a round, black base with an on/off switch on the side. The style number appears in the lower left corner of the label located on the back of the product packaging.
