Officials Report Disappointing Results in Woodbury Liquor Compliance Check
HARTFORD, November 14 -- The Department of Consumer Protection announced today the results of a series of compliance checks conducted on Saturday, November 10th, to identify stores that would sell alcohol to persons under the legal age of 21.
“We were disappointed to find that 11 of the 15 stores tested in Woodbury failed our routine compliance check this weekend,” Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein said today. “This is a higher-than-average level of non-compliance, and one that we expect the permittees to address.”
On Saturday, November 10, agents from the Department’s Liquor Control Division and the Resident Trooper’s Office for the town of Woodbury conducted compliance checks at businesses in town. Fifteen (15) establishments were tested for compliance with minors trained and provided by the Governor’s Prevention Partnership, and of these it is alleged that 11 failed. The stores which allegedly sold alcoholic liquor to minors were:
· Daly Express Mart, 167 Main Street South, Woodbury
· Discount Liquors, 73 Main Street South, Woodbury
· Country Spirit Shop, 95 Main Street South, Woodbury
· Charcoal Chef Restaurant, 670 Main Street North, Woodbury
· Old Tollgate Inn, 369 Washington Road, Woodbury
· Good News Restaurant and Cafe, 694 Main Street South, Woodbury
· Carlito’s of Woodbury, 20 Sherman Hill Road, Woodbury
· Curtis House, 506 Main Street South, Woodbury
· San Remo Restaurant and Pizzeria, 135 Main Street North, Woodbury
· Constantine’s, 1143 Main Street South, Woodbury
· Elenni’s Woodbury Pizza Castle, 40 Sherman Hill Road, Woodbury
The establishments are charged with selling liquor to a minor and will be scheduled for an administrative hearing before the Liquor Control Commission, at which time each will have the opportunity to address the charges.
