Is the COVID-19 Vaccine Available for Children Aged 5 and up?

The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is now available for children aged 5 through 11.

A children’s vaccine will help keep your child safe, and protect families and the community at large. Vaccinated children will not be required to quarantine if exposed to the virus, and transmission rates within schools will be greatly reduced.

Children aged 5 and up can now receive the COVID-19 vaccine at many locations, including:

  • Pediatricians: Hundreds of pediatricians will administer COVID-19 vaccines across Connecticut. If your child’s provider doesn’t offer the COVID-19 vaccine, please refer to one of the other options provided.
  • Pharmacies: Pharmacists are trained to vaccinate younger children at many CVS, Walgreens, RiteAid, and other pharmacy chains, as well as independent pharmacies.
  • School-based clinics: On-site clinics at schools will have teams specifically trained to vaccinate younger children. Information about these clinics will be provided by schools or districts directly.
  • Other locations: In addition to the above, several health systems and local health departments will be offering COVID-19 vaccines for children aged 5 to 11.
