Security Upgrade Grants Available for Schools across Connecticut
Governor Ned Lamont and his administration will be funding two state grant programs to improve security infrastructure and upgrade emergency communications systems at schools throughout Connecticut.
Public and private K-12 schools, and eligible childcare centers and preschools that can demonstrate they have received threats, may be eligible for the grants.
Schools may qualify for security improvements such as door locks, access control systems, security lighting, and interior and exterior camera systems, as well as emergency communications tools such as panic buttons, radios, and other multi-media notifications technology.
The first round of applications is due by 3:00 p.m. on June 15, 2021. The second round is due by June 30, 2021. Applications will be ranked and awarded based on a demonstrated need for security improvements.
Creating a school climate where all students can feel emotionally and physically safe is a State priority. The funding will help move our schools closer to this goal.
