Policing in Our Communities

Link to the Recording

Policing is a critical area in civil rights. Officers are entrusted with great power to enforce the law but that power cannot be used to discriminate against those the police are sworn to protect. This workshop will go over recent policing reforms in Connecticut, issues that remain, strategies for reducing bias in policing, and what steps to take if bias is found.

Speakers
  • Ken Barone, CT Racial Profiling Prohibition Project
  • Rashad Glass, Office of Chief Public Defenders
  • Mike Fumiatti, New Haven Police Dept.
  • Rep. Quentin Phipps, 100th District
