Attorney General Tong Praises Signing of Crisis Pregnancy Center Bill
(Hartford, CT) – Attorney General William Tong issued a statement praising enactment of “An Act Concerning Deceptive Advertising Practices of Limited Services Pregnancy Centers.”“Pregnant women seeking information about their reproductive health choices deserve accurate, timely answers. Limited service pregnancy centers are prohibited from using false, misleading, or deceptive advertising and my office is prepared to use its authority under this law to protect the rights and health of women,” said Attorney General Tong.
The new law bars limited services pregnancy centers from using false, misleading or deceptive language about the services provided, or using language offering services that the center has no intention of providing. Under the new law, such false and misleading advertising would be subject to enforcement action by the Office of the Attorney General in conjunction with the Department of Consumer Protection.
