AG Jepsen Applauds Supreme Court

Decision on King v. Burwell

For immediate release                                                                                   THURSDAY, JUNE 25, 2015

HARTFORD – Attorney General George Jepsen today issued the following statements on today’s Supreme Court decision regarding King v. Burwell:

"Today’s Supreme Court ruling is yet another victory for the millions of Americans who need health care, for the individuals living with medical conditions who would otherwise be denied coverage and for seniors struggling to afford their prescription medications. Tens of thousands of Connecticut residents have already benefitted from health care reform, and tens of thousands more will continue to benefit as more provisions of the law take effect."

"While I am still reviewing the Court’s legal analysis and the details of the decision, and Connecticut's state run health insurance exchange is not directly affected by this case, I applaud the Court for making the correct decision to uphold federal subsidies that allow millions of Americans to afford health insurance purchased on exchanges established by the federal government, not just insurance purchased on exchanges established by the states.”
