• 4/23/2019 Governor Lamont: State Terminates Purchase Agreement for Griswold Property

  Governor Ned Lamont today announced that the Department of Administrative Services has terminated a purchase and sale agreement for a 113-acre piece of land in Griswold that was a proposed site for a Connecticut State Police gun range. Following the governor’s decision not to seek bonding money for the property, the department exercised its right to terminate the agreement and delivered a letter to the property owner, notifying him that it no longer plans to purchase the property.

• 4/23/2019 Governor Lamont Announces Elena Trueworthy Will Serve as Connecticut’s Head Start Coordinator

  Governor Ned Lamont today announced that Elena Trueworthy of New Britain will serve as the director of the Connecticut Head Start State Collaboration Office. In this role, she will be responsible for helping support implementation of the federal Head Start program, which provides comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition, and patient involvement services to low-income children and their families. The position is housed within the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC), the state’s leading agency that serves young children from birth to five and their families, and is authorized by the federal Head Start Act.

• 4/18/2019 Governor Lamont Nominates Marissa Paslick Gillett to Serve as a Commissioner of the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority

  Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he is nominating Marissa Paslick Gillett of Baltimore, Maryland to serve as a commissioner of the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA), the state entity responsible for regulating the rates and services of Connecticut’s investor-owned electricity, natural gas, water, and telecommunications companies. It also serves as the franchising authority for the state’s cable television companies.

  As they approach the 100th day of their administration, Governor Ned Lamont and Lt. • 4/15/2019 Governor Lamont: A Bigger Table, Open Door, and Creative Solutions Enabled us to Advance a Better Deal to Keep Millstone Open for Another Decade

  Governor Ned Lamont and Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz today were invited by executives and employees from Dominion Energy to visit the Millstone nuclear facility in Waterford to celebrate an agreement reached by Dominion and the state’s two electric utilities last month to keep the facility open for another decade. The shutdown of the plant would have exposed the New England region to a nearly 25 percent increase in carbon emissions, increased risk of rolling blackouts, billions of dollars in power replacement costs, and the loss of more than 1,500 well-paying jobs right here in Connecticut.

  Ray and Barbara Dalio of Dalio Philanthropies today joined Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont, First Lady Annie Lamont, leaders in the General Assembly, students and other stakeholders to announce the launch of a partnership strengthening public education and promoting greater economic opportunity in Connecticut. Through Connecticut’s leadership and the support of Dalio Philanthropies, the partnership seeks to raise $300 million over five years: $100 million from the State of Connecticut that will be matched by $100 million from Dalio Philanthropies and another $100 million from other philanthropists and business leaders.

  Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he is proclaiming Friday, April 5, through Sunday, April 7, 2019 as “Husky Weekend” in the State of Connecticut in recognition of the UConn women’s basketball team playing in the NCAA Final Four tournament.   In response to a decision today by the State Elections Enforcement Commission (SEEC) stating that candidates in Connecticut cannot utilize the Citizens Election Program (CEP) to cover childcare costs when running for office, Governor Ned Lamont and Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz are urging the General Assembly to adopt legislation affirming in statute that childcare costs are a permitted campaign expenditure under the program.
