Moderator – Joe McDonald
Captive and Risk Finance Products Manager, International Risk Management Institute, Inc.
As captive and risk finance products manager, Joe McDonald is responsible for the quality and growth of IRMI’s risk finance and captive insurance product line.
Prior to joining IRMI, Mr. McDonald spent twelve years as an insurance regulator with the South Carolina Department of Insurance, from 2008-2020. During that time, he held various positions, increasing in responsibility, focusing on licensing captive insurance companies and marketing South Carolina as a premiere on-shore captive domicile. Mr. McDonald serves on the Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) NEXTGen Committee and is actively involved in various efforts to promote the captive insurance industry. Mr. McDonald holds a bachelor of arts degree with a double major in philosophy and religious studies and a master of arts degree in religious studies, both from the University of South Carolina. He is currently pursuing the Certified Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and the Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designations.
Crystal Cathcart
ISO MarketStance, Product Sales Specialist
As a Product Specialist and subject matter expert for ISO MarketStance, Crystal works with commercial lines executives at insurance carriers developing a deep understanding of their growth strategies and providing market intelligence to assist them with meeting company growth and profitability goals. Common themes include strategically targeted growth in key markets, identifying under-penetrated markets ripe with opportunity, discovering segments of their appetite with adverse characteristics which can be toxic to a book of business, and distribution management strategies to drive new business with agency partners. ISO MarketStance licenses economic and demographic data focusing on commercial insurance markets allowing insurance professionals to size and segment the marketplace. Using ISO MarketStance data empowers our clients by giving them access to exposure information, premium by line, loss ratios, historical economic trends and forward-looking forecasts needed for strategic planning, product development, marketing, distribution, actuarial and underwriting risk management.
Nicholas Bosio
Underwriting Technician – Small Commercial New Business Lines, Hanover Insurance Group
Nicholas recently graduated from the University of Hartford in May 2021 majoring in Risk Management and Insurance. During his time at the university, Nicholas held different leadership positions such as Vice President for the Barney Leadership Club in which help partake in leadership opportunities on behalf of the Barney School while helping other students to be more involved. Nicholas also took part in the Spencer-RIMS Risk Management Challenge which was an 8-month long briefing that engaged in assessing high-level risks, ultimately achieving first place and winning the competition. Throughout his experience with the University of Hartford, Nicholas was also selected for the Anita Benedetti Student Involvement Program where RIMS sponsors 30 students in the US and Canada, and 6 international students to attend the RIMS Annual Conference & Exposition.
Jyoti Yoddha
Director, Model Risk Management, The Hartford
Jyoti Yoddha is a Director in Model Risk Management, at The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. In this role, Jyoti is responsible for performing model validations, supporting model governance, maintaining a comprehensive model inventory and supporting the lines of business to mitigate model risk. Jyoti started as a Financial Analyst at The Hartford in 2001 and was responsible for developing staffing models and supporting variable expense budgets for P&C Operations. Since then, Jyoti and has held a number of roles in Contact Center Resource Management, Billing IT and Personal Lines Intelligent Operations (A.I.) Process. Jyoti has an MBA in Finance and Management Information Systems. Prior to joining The Hartford, Jyoti worked for Stanley Black & Decker in Financial Planning & Analysis.
