Dean, Barney School of Business of the University of Hartford
Steve was appointed Dean of the Barney School of Business in 2020, following a career in the insurance industry for over 40 years.
Mulready is a recognized insurance professional and risk management expert with extensive senior management and board level experience. Most recently, he was the executive vice president and chief operating officer at Crum & Forster, a leading property and casualty company. He began his career at Aetna, advancing to senior vice president and business leader of national commercial accounts, before moving on to Orion Capital. Upon Royal and Sun Alliance’s acquisition of Orion, Steve held a range of positions including president and CEO of the US. Operations. Prior to joining Crum & Forster in 2010, he was CEO of AIX Holdings, Inc. Mulready has served in multiple roles at the University including adjunct instructor, executive in residence, member and past chair of the Barney School Board of Visitors and the University’s Board of Regents. In addition to his MBA from Barney School, he earned a Bachelors of Science from the University of Connecticut in Insurance Administration. He is a board advisor for Obsidian Insurance Holdings, a former board member of Cover-All Technologies, Adaptec Technologies, Agri-Insurance and ALICO, a Florida land development company.
Suschna Scott
Financial Insurance Examiner, Connecticut Insurance Department
Suschna Scott, (pronounced “SUUSH-nuh”), currently works as a Financial Insurance Examiner at the Connecticut Department of Insurance within the Captive Division. Suschna is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and providing recommendations on captive licensing. She provides support with reviewing annual financial reports and providing recommendations to management as well as coordinating meetings with service providers or companies as needed. Suschna is currently in the process of studying for the Accredited Financial Examiner test (AFE) to ultimately obtain a professional designation. Suschna has previously held roles in auditing, accounting, banking, and financial advisory. Suschna has earn a MS in Accounting at American Public University, two BS separately in Business Administration minor in Accounting and Fashion Merchandising at the New England College of Business and the University of Bridgeport.
Michaela Scott, MSFS, CFP®, RICP®, AIF®

Michaela F. Scott leads Borislow’s Employer Retirement Consulting Practice (BI-ERC). Partnering with ideal clients as their 401(k)/403(b) Advisor. She earned her Master of Science in Financial Services with a concentration in Retirement Planning from the American College of Financial Services where she serves in a leadership position on the Alumni Advisory Board. She is a Certified Financial Planner™, Accredited Investment Fiduciary, Retirement Income Certified Professional®, Charted Financial Consultant, Certified Health Savings Advisor and an Investment Advisor Representative with her Series 6, 63 and 7. She holds an honors Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Saint Anselm College and is immediate past President of the St. A’s Alumni Association and current Advisory Council Co-Chair for the department of Business and Economics. Michaela was selected to serve on the Retirement Plan Advisory Council (RPAC) for Advisor Group. Advisor Group is one of the largest networks of independent advisor firms in the country overseeing approximately $190 billion in assets. RPAC is comprised of a select group of advisors who specialize in retirement plans, are innovative and can lead by example with best practices for servicing clients and delivering results for participants. Together with her team, Michaela is increasing financial literacy and inspiring financial and healthcare confidence. Michaela resides in Hampton, NH with her husband Jeff, daughter Lily, golden retriever Bailey and black lab Lola.
James Hogan
Accounting Professor, St. Joseph’s College
James Hogan is an Accounting Professor at St. Joseph’s College and former CFO and Chief Auditor. Previously, James was a Visiting Professor of Accounting in the Accounting and Taxation Department of the Barney School at the University of Hartford. Mr. Hogan had served as an adjunct instructor at the university and has been responsible for teaching advanced accounting. Mr. Hogan has over 20 years of accounting and auditing experience and is the Chief Audit Executive at Aix Holdings, Inc., a specialty insurance holding company located in Windsor, Connecticut. Before that, Mr. Hogan served as Chief Financial Officer of Orion Capital’s Connecticut Specialty Division and Chief Auditor of Orion Capital, Inc. Mr. Hogan has also served as an Audit Manager at the Hartford office of KPMG / Peat Marwick. Mr. Hogan received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentration in accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting and Taxation from the University of Hartford. Mr. Hogan graduated a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. Mr. Hogan holds a CPA certificate in the State of Connecticut as is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Kenneth Goroshko
Visiting Professor, University of Hartford
Ken Goroshko is a Visiting Professor at the University of Hartford, Quinnipiac University and UCONN. He specializes in in teaching Macro and Managerial Economics.
Prior to his teaching, he was a Director of Group Benefits, focused on the national and regional sized commercial companies. Previously, he was an executive dealing with coverages and benefits associated with Workers Compensation, Disability and Life products.
Ken holds and BS degree in Economics, an MA in Economics & Research and an MBA and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from the University of Hartford Barney School of Business.
