LT. GOVERNOR BYSIEWICZ, DEEP, & DECD VISIT DANDELION ENERGY TO REAFFIRM CT’S COMMITMENT TO A GREEN ENERGY FUTURE

(HARTFORD, CT) - Yesterday, Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, with Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Deputy Commissioner Hank Webster and Department of Economic Community Development (DECD) Deputy Commissioner Robert Hotaling, visited Dandelion Energy in Windsor to tout Connecticut’s continued commitment to mitigating the impacts and causes of climate change, the need for a green energy future, and highlight the growing geothermal business.   

“Businesses like Dandelion Energy are partners in helping us fight back against climate change here in the State of Connecticut – providing future-focused, clean energy jobs and offering sustainable energy options to residents,” said Lt. Governor Bysiewicz. “Thank you to everyone at DEEP, DECD, and Dandelion for your efforts in making sure Connecticut continues to lead the fight against climate change, and in our country’s workforce development and job creation efforts.” 

“As our most recent Greenhouse Gas Inventory reminds us, Connecticut’s buildings sector is a major source of emissions,” DEEP Deputy Commissioner of Energy Hank Webster said. “Geothermal energy can help heat and cool our buildings without fossil fuel combustion, pairing the consistent, year-round ground temperature of the earth with an increasingly clean power generation mix. Whether using this technology for a single building or as a networked solution across multiple structures, the economic, environmental, and health benefits are huge wins for Connecticut.” 

“Growing our green energy sector is good for our environment and good for our economy, as it creates well-paying, reliable jobs and opens up new career paths for people of all skill levels,” said DECD Deputy Commissioner Rob Hotaling.  “We are thrilled Dandelion Energy continues to invest and grow in Connecticut.” 

"We are tremendously excited about the growth of our workforce here in Connecticut" stated Eduardo Llorente, Chief Operations Officer for Dandelion Energy. "Dandelion has completed more than 260 installations for Connecticut homeowners; these systems will avoid more than 120,000 tons of CO2 emissions – that’s equivalent to taking 3,800 cars off the road. We are on contract for an additional 200 systems in Connecticut that will be installed later this year [and] we just fully staffed our fifth heat pump installation team, which allows us to accelerate the pace of geothermal heat pump installations to meet soaring homeowner demand. This brings Dandelion to over 70 employees in Connecticut."
