Connecticut State Police Traffic Services Unit and the Monroe Police Department

Set to Conduct DUI Sobriety Checkpoint

Monroe, CT (July 2, 2018): The Connecticut State Police Traffic Services Unit and the Monroe Police Department will be conducting a DUI / Sobriety checkpoint on Route 25 in Monroe during the late evening of Thursday, July 5, 2018 into the early morning hours on Friday, July 6, 2018.

The DUI enforcement project will primarily consist of a checkpoint staffed by State Troopers and Monroe Police Officers in the Town of Monroe for the sole purpose of detection and apprehension of intoxicated drivers.

Lieutenant Eric Murray, Commanding Officer of the Connecticut State Police Traffic Services Unit, and Captain Keith White of the Monroe Police Department would also like to advise motorists that in addition to this checkpoint, troopers and officers will also be actively enforcing Connecticut’s laws regarding speed limits, seatbelts requirements and aggressive driving throughout the holiday period.

Aggressive driving, following too closely and excessive speed along with failing to utilize safety restraints needlessly claim the lives of motorists on Connecticut roadways every year.

Troopers will continue to utilize marked and unmarked patrol vehicles as well as other resources to identify those operators that violate these laws and will take strict enforcement action against them in order to ensure public safety on Connecticut roadways.
