State Police Detectives Investigate Chaplin Robbery
(Chaplin, CT – August 4, 2016): State Police Detectives are investigating a reported robbery at the Stop & Go convenience store located at 17 Willimantic Road (Route 6) in Chaplin.
On August 4, 2016, at approximately 6:30 a.m. Troopers from Troop D-Danielson responded to a reported robbery in progress at the Stop & Go convenience store.
Upon arrival Troopers spoke with the store clerk who stated that a white male suspect, 5’8” to 5’11,” with a beard and stocky build, wearing sunglass, a black long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit skull cap had entered the store. The male suspect walked up to the counter and asked for the money in the cash register. The suspect did not display any weapons, but implied that he had a weapon, and once again asked for the money in the cash register.
The clerk gave the male suspect an undisclosed amount of money. The male suspect then exited the store and fled the area on green sport-style motorcycle heading westbound on Route 6.
Detectives from Eastern District Major Crime (EDMC) responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
Through the course of the Stop & Go robbery investigation it was learned that the Bach Dor Café located at 9 Willimantic Road, directly next door to the Stop & Go, was broken into overnight.
EDMC detectives are investigating both scenes; it is unknown if the male suspect is involved in both incidents.
