STATE POLICE TROOP H & WINDSOR POLICE PLAN SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT FOR NOV. 25
On Friday, November 25, 2016, during the evening hours, State Troopers from the Connecticut State Police, Troop H - Hartford Barracks and Officers from the Windsor Police Department will conduct a DUI I Sobriety Checkpoint on Interstate 91 in the Town of Windsor.
This checkpoint is a collaborative effort by State Police and Windsor Police personnel to identify motorists who are operating vehicles under the influence of liquor and/or drugs.
This checkpoint will be in operation for several hours. State Troopers and Windsor Officers will stop all vehicles at the checkpoint location to determine whether motorists have consumed alcoholic beverages prior to operating their vehicle as well as checking for compliance with other Connecticut State Laws.
This checkpoint will be clearly marked with emergency flashing lights as well as reflective signs. The safety of the public will be the primary concern of State Police and Windsor Police personnel assigned to the checkpoint.
Lieutenant Michael Pendleton, the Commanding Officer at Troop H in Hartford, and Chief Donald Melanson of the Windsor Police Department remind motorists that Connecticut State Troopers and Windsor Officers are extremely vigilant in their DUI enforcement efforts and that the State Police will haveextra State Troopers on duty to concentrate on DUI enforcement. In addition to this sobriety checkpoint, State Troopers and Windsor Officers will emphasize seat belt safety enforcement.
Any media inquiries regarding this DUI checkpoint may be directed to Master Sergeant Patrick Torneo at Troop H in Hartford at 860-534-1000.
