STATE TROOPERS RESPOND TO BARRICADED SUBJECT IN CANTERBURY

On 2/10/10 at approximately 3:34 a.m. State Troopers from Troop-D in Danielson responded to 237 Lisbon Rd., Canterbury after receiving a report of a male in the residence with a gun.   It was reported by family members that James LaPage (DOB 8/10/89) was in the residence with a gun. Upon Troopers arrival on the scene they were confronted by LaPage at the front door brandishing two firearms.  LaPage was ordered to drop the guns but refused and he went back into the residence.  A short time later four family members exited the residence and reported that La Page was still in the house with the firearms and that he was intoxicated.  A Troop D Trooper made contact with LaPage by phone and spoke with him for nearly 3 hours at which time the Trooper convinced LaPage to exit the residence without any firearms.  LaPage was taken into custody without incident.  It was later learned during the investigation, LaPage fired one shot into the air out of a window prior to Troopers arrival.  Two guns were seized from the residence.   Troop D personnel were assisted at scene by Troopers from Troop-K and Troop- E.
