State Police Investigate Stabbing Incident
On 8/24/10 at 9:46 a.m. State Police Troop C received 911 calls reporting that a stabbing had just taken place at an apartment located at 132 Foster Dr. in Mansfield. Troopers and EMS responded to the residence and discovered a non-verbal, physically challenged, 16year old male vicitim in his bedroom suffering from multiple stab wounds.
EMS personnel provided emergency care at the scene to the victim who was transported to Windham Hospital. The vicitm's condition is reported to be serious not life threatening.
A witness at the scene provided information to State Police that she heard noise and entered her injured son's room where she encountered the suspect. The suspect fled from the apartment.
Troopers located a juvenile suspect in this incident and, with his parents present, are conducting an interview.
State Police Major Crime detectives are conducting the criminal investigation into this stabbing. Detectives have identified and are interviewing additional witness who have provided additional leads and information. State Police Detectives will process and document the sene of the incident.
This appears to be an isolated incident and it is anticipated that an arrest will be made.
The investigation is ongoing.
