STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE MANSFIELD ARMED ROBBERY
On 09/25/10, at about 7:45 p.m., State Police at Troop C received an alarm reporting an armed robbery at Gibb’s Gas Station located on Route 32 in Mansfield near the Willimantic town line.
Troopers from the Resident Trooper’s Office in Mansfield and Troop C responded to the scene and initiated a search of the area for the suspect. All surrounding police agencies were notified of the robbery and descriptions of the suspect.
The initial State Police investigation determined that a male suspect entered the station displayed a handgun and demanded cash and cigarettes. An undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes were handed over and the suspect fled. There were no injuries.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 20 years of age, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, white cargo shorts, dark sneakers and a scarf over his face. He fled on foot; no vehicle was observed. State Police Major Crime Detectives responded to the scene to conduct this criminal investigation, working with the Mansfield Resident State Trooper.
The scene was processed and witnesses were interviewed and were able to provide information to State Police investigators. State Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area prior to or immediately after this robbery and may have observed anything suspicious to please contact State Police at Troop C (860) 896-3200.
