On 2/10/2010 at 11:57 pm the Connecticut State Police at Troop C received a 9-1-1 call reporting a fire at 154 Billings Road, in Somers. Upon arrival of the Somers Fire Department, the residence was fully engulfed. It was reported that a victim was inside the residence in an attempt to rescue several pets.
The Somers Fire Department located the deceased on her upstairs bedroom floor where she was pronounced dead. The Office of the State Fire Marshal responded to the fire scene and State Police Detectives assisted with scene processing. The victim was transported to Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy later today.
The victim has been identified as Denise Hannan (03-27-48) of
