STATE POLICE ARREST LARCENY SUSPECTS
On Wednesday April 15th, 2009, State Police Detectives at Troop D in Danielson arrested two men in connection with a large quantity of stolen diesel fuel.
After a several month long investigation, Detectives linked several thousands of gallons of stolen diesel fuel to a company based in Thompson, Connecticut. The type of diesel fuel stolen from the company was later sold as home heating fuel at a price of $2.00 per gallon. During this period, the general public was paying approximately $4.00 or more per gallon of fuel. The value of the stolen fuel is estimated in the tens of thousands of dollars.
On 04/15/09 Detectives arrested Ricky Houghton, age 47, of 18 River Street, Dudley, MA., on an arrest warrant at Troop D in Danielson. Mr. Houghton was charged with Larceny in the First Degree and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the First Degree. Mr. Houghton was processed and released on a $50,000.00 non-surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment on 04/29/09.
On 04/15/09 Detectives arrested Justin Walas, age 25, of 395 North Main Street, Moosup, CT., on an arrest warrant at Troop D in Danielson. Mr. Walas was charged with Larceny in the First Degree and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the First Degree. Mr. Walas was processed and released on a $50,000.00 non-surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment on 04/29/09.
This case remains under investigation and more arrests are expected.
