STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE NEW HARTFORD BANK ROBBERY

   On October 10, 2009, at approximately 10:40 a.m., State Police at Troop B were notified of a bank robbery at the New Hartford Community Bank located Foothills Plaza Route 44 in New Hartford.

   State Troopers responded to the bank to secure the scene and conduct a search of the area for the lone male suspect. 

   Preliminary information and investigation indicated that the suspect entered the bank, handed the teller a note implying that he had a gun, and demanded cash.  At no time was a gun displayed and the suspect left with an undetermined amount of cash.  The suspect exited the rear of the bank and got into a light color 4-door sedan, possibly a Honda.  The suspect left the bank and headed east on Route 44.  The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’7” – 5’9”, heavy set, unknown age.  No one was injured during this robbery.

   State Police Major Crime Squad Detectives responded to the bank robbery scene to conduct the criminal investigation into this incident.

   State Police are asking anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the New Hartford Community Bank just before or at the time of this robbery and may have seen anything to please contact State Police Troop B in Canaan at 1-800-497-0403
