STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE MONTVILLE BANK ROBBERY

   Today 09/21/09 at approximately 12:19 p.m. State Police troop- E Montville received a report of a Bank Robbery from the Citizen’s Bank located at Rt. 32 in Montville. 

   Connecticut State Troopers and Officers from the Montville Resident State Trooper’s Office responded to the robbery scene.  The area was searched for the suspect and the bank building was evacuated and secured.  Troopers Initial information obtained from witnesses determined that a lone white female had entered the bank with a bag in her possession.  The suspect approached the teller indicated she was in possession of a bomb and demanded cash.  The female suspect fled on foot leaving the suspicious bag on the bank counter. 

   State Police Emergency Services bomb squad Troopers responded to investigate and examine the suspicious bag.  State Police Major Crime Detectives also responded to process the crime scene and to conduct the criminal investigation into this bank robbery.

   The female suspect is described as a heavy-set, white female, 20-30 years of age, wearing a blue hoodie sweatshirt. 

   State Police are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area of the bank at the time of the robbery to contact State Police at 860 848-6500.  All calls will be kept confidential. 

   The case remains under investigation.
