STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE ASSAULT IN GRISWOLD

On 08/01/09 at approximately 0702 hours, Troop E received a report from the Emergency Room at Backus Hospital reporting a victim of an assault. Troopers responded to the Emergency Room and discovered the victim, Kristopher Cote. Cote was brought into the Emergency Room having sustained multiple injuries of blunt trauma to his head. Cote reported that on 08/01/09 sometime in the early morning hours he was assaulted by an unknown assailant with a baseball bat.  The victim was treated at the W.W. Backus Hospital and later transported to Yale New Haven and is in stable condition. State Police Detectives of the Eastern District Major Crime Squad responded and are investigating this incident.  The investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact Troop E, at 860-848-6500.
