                             Large Drug Seizure in Putnam CT     

On April 09, 2009, the Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotic Task Force - East Field Office, the United States Postal Service and the Putnam Police Department conducted a joint narcotics  investigation.

This investigation resulted in the interception a suspicious package which originated in Texas addressed to be delivered to 25 Farrows Street, Putnam, CT.,. The package was believed to contain narcotics. A search and seizure warrant was obtained from Superior Court. The warrant was executed on the package to determine its contents. Investigators located a large quantity of marijuana. 

A search and seizure was subsequently executed at the residence (25 Farrow Street, Putnam, CT) Narcotics Investigators located a marijuana cultivation grow operation in the residence in the infant children’s bedroom. The marijuana cultivation grow was in its early stages. Narcotics Investigators seized: 28 pounds of marijuana, (estimated street value $70,000. A facsimile handgun which was altered to give it the appearance of a real firearm, $400.00 dollars in US Currency, items of drug paraphernalia (packaging material, scales) along with marijuana grow equipment such as: lighting, fan equipment, top soil, grow ledges (notes) and other items used in the cultivation process.  This investigation is continuing.

  Cultivation of Marijuana, 21a-246(a)

  Operating a Drug Factory, 21a-277(c)

  Poss. Facsimile Firearm, 53-206c

  Risk of Injury Minor, 53-21 (2 counts)

The accused is being held on a $150,000.00 bond. if bond is not posted he will be presented on April 13, 2009 at Danielson Superior Court

#2 ARRESTED:   Kristi King (DOB 03/10/1984)

                                25 Farrow Street

                              Putnam, CT

CHARGES:    Poss. Marijuana, 21a-279(c)

  Poss. Marijuana WITS, 21a-278(b),

  Poss. Marijuana WITS w/in 1500’ Daycare, 21a-278a(b)

  Cultivation of Marijuana, 21a-246(a)

  Operating a Drug Factory, 21a-277(c)

  Poss. Facsimile Firearm, 53-206c

  Risk of Injury Minor, 53-21 (2 counts)

The accused was released on a 50,000 Non-surety Bond.

Also taken into custody in relation to this investigation were the following subjects:

CHARGES:    Poss. Marijuana, 21a-279(c)

  Poss. Marijuana WITS w/in 1500’ Daycare, 21a-278a(b)

#4 ARRESTED:   Luis M. Santiago Jr. (DOB 12/29/1986)

         72 Boston Post Road,

         Willimantic, CT

CHARGES:    Poss. Marijuana, 21a-279(c)

  Poss. Marijuana WITS, 21a-278(b),

  Poss. Marijuana WITS w/in 1500’ Daycare, 21a-278a(b)

Both of these accused were held on $100,000.00 bond each and will appear in Danielson Superior Court onApril 13, 2009 if bond is not posted.
