   On Friday, January 23, 2009 at approximately 10:40 a.m. State Troopers responded to an alarm at the Savings institute Bank and Trust located at 180 Westminster Road (Route 14) in Canterbury. Troop D was subsequently notified that a bank robbery had prompted the alarm.

   State Troopers along with State Police K9s responded to the scene to search for the perpetrators who had fled the bank. The State Police Aviation Unit was also notified.

   Based on initial witness statements 2 perpetrators, both armed with handguns and wearing ski masks, entered the bank and demanded money from the tellers. Both subjects are tentatively being described as white males in the early 20's, wearing black jackets and dark baggy pants. The perpetrators fled the general area on foot and no vehicles were seen or associated with this crime.

   State Police Detectives from the State Police Major Crime Squad responded to the scene to assume this investigation.
