STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED BANK ROBBERY

Today 04/09/09 at approximately 2:45 p.m. Connecticut State Police received a bank alarm from the Citizen’s Bank located at 1663 Rt. 12 in Ledyard, Ct.  State troopers and Officers from the Ledyard Resident troopers Office responded to the robbery scene.  State troopers and Town Officer secured the scene. 

Preliminary information was obtained from witnesses regarding the facts and circumstances of the robbery.  A lone, light skinned black male, wearing a ball cap entered the bank. He displayed handgun, demanded money, and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries reported. 

The suspect is described as a black male 5‘11” tall about 20-30 years of age.

A search of the area was conducted by responding State Troopers and officers utilizing K-9. In addition, all surrounding police departments were notified of this incident.

The State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad Detectives were assigned to respond to the robbery scene to conduct the criminal investigation into this armed  bank robbery.

Anyone that was  the area of the bank and observed anything suspicious is asked to contact State Police at 860-848-6500.
