CONNECTICUT STATE POLICE

NEW YEARS OPERATION

The Connecticut State Police will remain very active to enhance public safety on all highways and roads in our state.  The State Police will utilize various motor vehicle enforcement tools to locate, test, and arrest intoxicated drivers this holiday weekend.

To accomplish this task State Troopers will use both marked and unmarked State Police Cars as the State Police Troopers are attempting to remove unsafe and intoxicated drivers from Connecticut roads.

New Years Eve Holiday 2008-2009 Troopers issued summons to drivers for the following motor vehicle violations: Speeding, seat belt violations, other hazardous moving violations. In addition Troopers arrested 24 drunk drivers new years eve 2008-09.

Also last year during the New Years Eve Operation Troopers investigated 475 Crashes across the state, 2 that were fatal.

To enhance highway safety Connecticut State Troopers will be out in force over the New Years Holiday. In addition to the normal patrols, Troopers will be assigned to focus additional attention to areas where DUI violations and alcohol related crashes take place.  Sobriety checkpoints will also be set up at various locations across the state.

This New Year Holiday 2009-10 State Police enforcement operation started at midnight 12/30/09 and this enhanced operation will run until 01/01/2009 at midnight.

Connecticut State Police are reminding all motorists if you drink, DO NOT DRIVE.  Designate a sober non-drinking driver before you partake in any celebration.  If you spot a suspected drunk driver, this is a true emergency, call 911 report it to police.  Help us, help you, stay safe this New Years Holiday.
