THEFT FROM SUPERMARKET

INVESTIGATED BY STATE POLICE, EAST LYME

On Saturday 11/22/2008 at approximately 1:34 p.m., Officers assigned to the East Lyme Resident Trooper’s Office were dispatched to the East Lyme Stop and Shop on 248 Flanders Road in East Lyme for a reported theft from the store.

Upon arrival, Troopers and Town Officers determined that a white female, reportedly in her 20’s with blonde hair stole Digital Video Disks (DVD’s) from the store.  The female then fled the store, and she was followed by the store manager. The female entered into the passenger seat of a gold colored Volvo 4 door sedan being operated by white male wearing a baseball cap. The Volvo's license plates were covered up with clothing articles. The store manager attempted to uncover the front license plate of the vehicle and was struck by the vehicle as it fled the scene.  A T-shirt that was being used to cover the plate was recovered by Troopers at the scene.

Troopers interviewed several witnesses and secured the evidence found at the scene. A video surveillance photo of the theft was obtained by Troopers.  The photo shows the female suspect in the aisle of the store.
