Collectable Coins Found in Litchfield/Morris
   State Police Looking for Owner
On Thursday June 12th, 2008 the State Police initiated a found property investigation after the discovery of numerous collectable coins in a wooded area off of Route 202 near the Litchfield/Morris town lines. The property was discovered by a Department of Transportation worker who reported this finding to the police.
The property, which appears to have been in that location for an extended (yet undetermined) length of time, consists of numerous and various coins that appear to have been a collection or part of a collection based on the type of coins and the quality and packaging of the coins.
The found property was seized and inventoried and brought to troop L in Litchfield where it was secured in an evidence holding area. Initial efforts to locate an owner, including checking with all surrounding local police agencies for reports of a missing coin collection, have been unsuccessful.
