          STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE

ARMED BANK ROBBERY – NAUGATUCK SAVINGS BANK PROSPECT BRANCH

DATE OF ROBBERY:     Thursday, August 7, 2008 at approximately 3:20 p.m.

LOCATION:                  Naugatuck Savings Bank

                                    24 Waterbury Road, Prospect, CT

SUSPECTS:       #1:        Black Male Suspect, approx. 5’8” tall / medium build /

                                      green hooded sweat shirt over white T-shirt / green ball cap /

                                      white ski mask / brown work boots / dark jeans /

                                      dark sunglasses

                         

                          #2:        Black Male Suspect, approx. 6’3” tall / slim build /

                                      gray camouflage type hooded sweat shirt / white scarf or

                                      towel over face / blue jeans / dark sun glasses

State Police Troop “I” Bethany, the State Police Central District Major Crime Squad and the Prospect Resident State Trooper’s Office are investigating an armed robbery of the Naugatuck Savings Bank in the Town of Prospect.  State Police Troop “I” received an alarm from the Naugatuck Savings Bank.  State Troopers and Town Officers   responded to the scene. Upon arrival  responding Troopers determined that two armed black males displaying firearms and wearing hooded sweat shirts entered the bank, demanded money,  and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.  The were no injuries reported.

The suspects fled in a stolen Green Dodge Caravan, which had been reported stolen to Waterbury Police Department on the day before.  A witness observed and followed the suspects flee in the Dodge Caravan which was later abandoned at a local business.  The suspects then fled in a dark colored Jeep Cherokee. State Police processed the crime scene and conducted several witness interviews.  Anyone who observed anything just before or immediately after to robbery is asked to contact the Connecticut State Police Troop “I” Bethany at 203-393-4200.
