Body Discovered in Connecticut River, Haddam CT

IDENTITY OF BODY MADE

Just after 6 a.m. this morning the State Police in Troop F, Westbrook were notified by a recreational boater on the Connecticut River that there was a body floating in the river near the Haddam Meadows State Park in Haddam.

State Troopers responded to the scene and requested the assistance of the local fire departments for the locating and recovery of the body. Members of the Haddam Volunteer Fire department were able to quickly launch a boat and subsequently locate the body. The fire department recovered the body of a male and brought the body to the boat launch at the Haddam Meadows State Park.

State Police Detectives responded to the scene to assume this investigation. The body was taken from the scene by investigators of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The body will be taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office where a post mortem examination with take place to determine the identity of the subject and possibly the cause and manner of death.

State Police Detectives assigned to this investigation are checking with local and state agencies that track missing persons reports in the region. The detectives will be working with the Medical Examiners Office to identify the facts and circumstances of this person’s death.

UPDATE:

The Connecticut State Police, working with the Office of the Chief State Medical Examiner, have identified the victim as Christopher Snyder, DOB 6-16-1985, of 38 Moore Ave, East Hartford.

East Hartford Police are investigating the circumstances of Snyder’s fall into the river.
