FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 14, 2007 |
The first concern of the Department of Public Safety is, and must always be, public safety. Indeed, as stated in our mission statement, the agency is committed to protecting and improving the quality of life for all by providing enforcement, regulatory and scientific services through prevention, education and innovative use of technology.
Currently, the Internal Affairs Division of DPS continues to actively investigate an allegation regarding the Aviation Unit of the Connecticut State Police. At this point in the investigation, evidence supports the department’s conclusion that the Aviation Unit is carrying out its mission safely, effectively and professionally.
Further evidence developed during this continuing investigation will be carefully scrutinized. If any future evidence suggests that personnel should be reassigned to other units, those changes will be implemented immediately.
To date, the investigation has not revealed evidence that would cause the agency to reassign current personnel and no personnel have been reassigned. The Department of Public Safety continues to closely examine all evidence in this case as it arises and will take action as needed to ensure that our agency’s mission is not compromised.
