STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE EAST LYME BANK ROBBERY
Today at 9:14 a.m., a lone white male entered the Dime Bank, 18 Chesterfield Rd, East Lyme. He displayed a handgun and demanded money from the teller. The male suspect received an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the bank in a dark-colored BMW bearing Connecticut Registration Plates which fled south on Route 1.
State Police responded to and secured the robbery scene. Troopers determined that there were no injuries and all witnesses were identified and interviewed. All surrounding police agencies were notified of the robbery with a description of the suspect and vehicle. The area was searched by State Police utilizing K-9 teams and State Police aircraft. State Police Major Crime Detectives responded to the robbery scene to conduct the criminal investigation into this robbery and to collect physical and forensic evidence.
Trooper’s preliminary information determined that the suspect is a white male 5’8” tall, 180 lbs, clean shaven, wearing light colored jeans, gray fleece, sunglasses and a hat who entered the bank displayed a handgun and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
State Police are asking any witnesses who may have observed the suspect or the suspect vehicle to contact State Police at 860-848-6500.
