                   STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY

   On June 8, at approximately 2:30 a.m., State Police Troop G received a 911 call reporting an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Mobil Gas Station rest area located on Rt. 15 Westbound in the town of Fairfield. State Police responded to the scene.

   

   Troopers determined that a lone black male had entered the store from the front door, displayed a knife to the attendant and ordered her to open the cash register.

   The suspect removed cash from the cash register drawer and then took several cartons of cigarettes and placed them into a plastic bag with the stolen money before leaving out the front door.  State Police conducted a search of the area for the suspect and the suspect vehicle all surrounding police agencies were notified of the facts of this robbery.

   State Police Detectives obtained video surveillance of this incident which shows the suspect vehicle that had entered the rest area through the Congress Street access road to the rear of the rest area. 

   The suspect is described as a black male, 5”08” tall, 180 lbs, medium build, short dark hair, no facial hair, wearing a black baseball hat, grey hooded sweatshirt, red t-shirt, blue jeans, red shoes and black gloves.  The knife was a folding-style knife with a dark handle and gold-colored blade.  The vehicle appears to be a dark colored, mid-size SUV, possibly a late 90’s Ford Explorer-type vehicle with unknown Connecticut plates.  No injuries were reported.
