SUSPCIOUS INCIDENT IN ELLINGTON

DETERMINED TO BE

NOT OF A CRIMINAL NATURE

On 03/27/2007 a suspicious incident was reported by two juveniles on Hillsdale road in the Town of Ellington. The two juvenile reported to their parent that an unknown male subject traveling in a dark colored pick up had offered them candy as they were playing in their front yard.

The Ellington Resident Trooper’s Office investigated this suspicious incident  based on the information that the children provided.

The Ellington Resident Troopers Office also reported this information to the  Ellington School District which prompted school officials to send a letter to parents of school aged children in regards to general diligence for the safety of children in the community.

As a result of the investigative efforts of the troopers from the Ellington Resident Trooper’s Office the identity of the suspicious male subject was determined. After further investigation it was determined that this incident was not criminal. The subject was a neighbor that the children did not immediately recognize. All information, facts and circumstances surrounding the incident were verified by the investigating troopers.

This incident serves as a good example why it is important for parents to reinforce stranger safety rules with their children. Take a moment to remind them about staying away from strangers, never  taking anything from strangers, and most importantly tell someone if your encounter any stranger.

                     STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

The Ellington Resident State Trooper and State Police Troop- C Tolland are investigating a report of a suspicious incident where two children reported that they were approached in the Hillsdale Drive area of Ellington by a male who offered candy to the children. The children were in their yard  at the time that this  incident took place and they reported it to family members. 

State Police were contacted and a criminal investigation was initiated. School Officials were notified  of the incident to make all parents aware of the reported incident. School Official sent a letter home to all parents making them aware of the facts of this case. .

The suspicious vehicle in this incident  is described as a dark colored possible BLUE pick-up truck
