STATE POLICE TO GRADUATE

CLASS OF 73 NEW STATE TROOPERS THURSDAY

The Connecticut State Police Academy will graduate 73 members of the 117th Training Troop on Thursday, July 20th at 11:00 a.m. The graduation ceremony will be held at the Jorgensen Auditorium on the campus of the University of Connecticut in Storrs.

Commissioner of Public Safety Leonard C. Boyle and Col. Edward Lynch, the Commander of the State Police, will preside over the graduation exercises. The entire State Police Command Staff will be in attendance to receive the new graduates. Governor M. Jodi Rell will be the keynote speaker at the graduation ceremony. A member of the graduating class will represent the new Troopers as class speaker during the ceremony.

This graduation class of 73 troopers has been in training since January 20, 2006. These new troopers will report to their State Police Troop assignments, where they will complete their training with field training Troopers. With the graduation of this State Police class, the total complement of Connecticut State Troopers is now 1,226.

The selection process for the next State Police training class is underway. There is no target date set at this time for the start of the 118th training class.
