                                                   STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE

                                          AIRPORT BOMB THREAT

Today 10/02/06 shortly after 2:28 p.m. the Groton Town Dispatch Center received a telephone bomb threat threatening the Groton New London Airport.

State Police Troop-E Troopers and Groton Town Police Officers were immediately notified of the threat and responded to the airport. The entire Terminal was evacuated and police secured the area.

State Police Bomb Squad Troopers with K-9 responded to the scene to assist Troop- E Troopers in the search of the facility. The entire facility was searched by State Police and K-9 teams nothing suspicious was found. The airport terminal was re-opened shortly after 4:00 p.m. The airport operations have returned to normal.

State Police Troopers have initiated a criminal investigation into this bomb threat. Investigating Troopers have developed several leads in this investigation and are pursing these leads at this time.

This case remains open and under investigation. .
