Special Meetings and Hearings

The Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) is responsible for several types of licensing, including security officers, bail enforcement agents, private detectives, and fireworks and special effects operators. In addition, DESPP is also charged with implementing the Clean Slate law, Connecticut General Statutes § 54-142a.

Individuals have the right to challenge DESPP’s decisions regarding the revocation of licenses and the denial of Clean Slate erasure and may do so by requesting an administrative hearing. Administrative hearings are governed by the Uniform Administrative Procedure Act (UAPA) and are conducted by impartial hearing officers. Such hearings are public and subject to the Freedom of Information Act.

The schedules, agendas and minutes for any such hearings will be posted here.
