2026 Division of Scientific Services Interns

The DSS is proud to announce the 2026 Summer Interns.

This year’s group includes Cailyn Maiolo, Joshua Cooper, Carol Muniz Silva, Beatrice Flynn, Gabriella Sciarretto, Daniella Ferraro, Samantha Sosnovich, Jack Celio, Anastasia Serating, and Riley Smith.

Throughout the summer, they will have the opportunity to learn more about our laboratory operations, observe the important work being done across the Division, and gain a better understanding of how forensic science supports public safety. We are grateful for the continued support of our staff in helping welcome, mentor, and encourage the next generation of forensic science professionals.

• Cailyn Maiolo attends the University of New Haven, where she is majoring in Forensic Science with a concentration in Molecular & Cellular Biology. She will be interning in the Forensic Biology/DNA Section.

• Joshua Cooper attends the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where he is studying Chemistry with a Forensic Science Option. He will be interning in the Chemical Analysis Section.

• Carol Muniz Silva attends the University of New Haven, where she is majoring in Forensic Science with a concentration in Chemistry. She will be interning in the Chemical Analysis Section.

• Beatrice Flynn attends Amherst College, where she is studying Neuroscience. She will be interning in the Identification Section.

• Gabriella Sciarretto attends Central Connecticut State University, where she is majoring in Forensic Biology. She will be interning in the Evidence Receiving Unit.

• Samantha Sosnovich attends Merrimack College, where she is studying Criminal Justice and Criminology. She will be interning in the Evidence Receiving Unit.

• Daniella Ferraro attends Western New England University, where she is studying Forensic Biology. She will be interning in the Evidence Receiving Unit.

• Jack Celio attends the University of New Haven, where he is majoring in Criminal Justice. He will be interning in the Digital Forensics Unit.

• Anastasia Serating attends the University of Connecticut, where she is majoring in Plant Science with minors in Bioinformatics, Molecular Cell Biology, and Agricultural Biotechnology. She will be interning in Quality Assurance.

• Riley Smith attends Syracuse University, where Riley is studying Biochemistry and Forensic Science. Riley will be interning in Quality Assurance.
