Job Fair Features Over 65 Law Enforcement Agencies

First Ever Statewide Recruitment Fair Will Feature Over 65 Law Enforcement Agencies

With Connecticut and the nation facing a continuing shortage of officers, dozens of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies will take part in the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection’s first-ever recruitment fair on Sept. 13 at the Connecticut Police Academy.

Participants will have the chance to learn about law enforcement careers with a variety of agencies, including the FBI, Connecticut State Police and municipal police departments. Some agencies will also be accepting job applications on-site.

“We are facing an unprecedented shortage of law enforcement officers in Connecticut and across the nation. This first-ever recruiting fair will be a showcase of job opportunities, from the FBI to the Connecticut State Police to municipal police departments,’’ said DESPP Commissioner Ronnell A. Higgins.

“These are jobs that offer a rewarding career in dozens of different areas of law enforcement,’’ Higgins said. “We are particularly interested in young people and applicants from diverse backgrounds.’’

The job fair, organized by DESPP’s Division of Police Officer Standards and Training Council, will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Connecticut Police Academy, located at 285 Preston Ave, Meriden, CT.

The event will also feature tours of the Police Academy and K9 demonstrations. Recruiters from agencies such as the Connecticut State Colleges & Universities, UCONN, the Connecticut Environmental Conservation Police, and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, as well as local police departments from across the state, will be in attendance.
