Announcement From The Connecticut Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security

Announcement: Connecticut National Guard and Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security to host Search and Rescue Crosswalk Event.

(Middletown, CT) – The Connecticut National Guard and Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP), Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) will be hosting a Search and Rescue Crosswalk event on Wednesday, May 11th at Camp Nett in Niantic starting at 8:00am.

Topics of the event include presentations and demonstrations from the New England Disaster Training Center, Connecticut Taskforce 1 – Urban Search and Rescue, Connecticut National Guard, Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection-Marine Unit, Connecticut State Police, and the United States Coast Guard. Several search and rescue organizations from across the state, along with our neighboring states of New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island are also expected to participate.

Agencies represented at this event include members of Emergency Support Function 9 –Search and Rescue, who are responsible for the state’s coordinated response and management of search and rescue operations.
