Announcement: DEMHS Announces Application Period for the 2020 Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) , and Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) Programs
Applications Must Be Received by the State No Later Than 3pm on November 30, 2020
The Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security is pleased to announce the release of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2020, Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) , and Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) program application. These programs funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), enables municipalities, private-nonprofit partners and state government entities to apply for eligible projects through the Division of Emergency Engagement and Homeland Security's Hazard Mitigation Unit.
Attached, please find FEMA Factsheets for both programs, State guidance/factsheets and submission timelines, and instructions on signing up for and using the Mitigation eGrants System (*instructions are attached within the DEMHS Fact Sheets*). Please feel free to share this information with interested parties.

Federal Program Priorities:
BRIC:
Priority #1: Activities that are a part of public infrastructure projects;
Priority #2: Activities or projects that mitigate risk to one or more lifelines;
Priority #3: Activities or projects that incorporate nature-based solutions, and;
Priority #4: Projects that facilitate the adoption and enforcement of the latest published editions of building codes
FMA:
Priority #1: Community Flood Mitigation - Advance Assistance
Priority #2: Community Flood Mitigation - Projects
Priority #3: Mitigation of Severe/Repetitive Loss (SRL & RL) properties.
Priority #4: Mitigation plans that update flood portion of the plan
Period of Performance:
Sub-applications must be received by the State via the FEMA Go system no later than 3pm on November 30, 2020. Paper or email applications cannot be accepted. All Sub-Applicants applying for FMA or BRIC project funding must have a FEMA approved local hazard mitigation plan in place to be eligible to apply. This requirement does not apply for applications to update a local natural hazard mitigation plan.

For grants issued in Fiscal Year 2020 and later, please use the FEMA GO system, which is now the management system for FEMA mitigation grants. Please submit applications and manage your Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) or the Building Resilient Infrastructures and Communities (BRIC) at the FEMA GO Portal.
Applications for funding are reviewed on a nationally competitive basis. There are limited funds available for these programs. Applications whose main focus is in line with the highest Federal priorities have the most chance of being selected for further review.
