WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT UNTIL 7:00 PM FOR NORTHERN CT…LIGHT SNOW STILL EXPECTED THRU LATE AFTERNOON…
At 1:45 pm temperatures across the state ranged from the mid 30’s across most of the state to the upper 30’s along the coast. Radar currently shows bands of light snow moving from west to east across the state. Connecticut DOT cameras are showing that all highways are now just wet with just a little slush on the shoulders. Secondary roads continue to improve and are generally wet with a thin coasting of slush on the shoulders. Total snowfall for this storm ranged from 5” – 7” across the state. Winds are currently blowing from the northeast at 5 – 10 mph with gusts to 15 mph at times along the coast. UI and Eversource are only showing a total of 33 customers without power across the state.
Rest of This Afternoon: Light snow is expected to continue for the next few hours with no additional accumulation. Most secondary roads and all highways should be just wet for the afternoon rush hour with a minor impact expected.
Tonight: Some black ice is expected to develop as temperatures drop into the mid 20’s across the state. The impact on overnight travel is expected to be minor. The black ice may linger into the Wednesday morning rush hour.
