FLOOD WATCHES REMAIN IN EFFECT FOR THE ENTIRE STATE…

ADDITIONAL MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL EXPECTED THIS MORNING…TAPERING OFF THIS AFTERNOON…

At 3:45 AM radar showed a few clusters of showers and thunderstorms moving across southern ConnecticutA total of approximately 3” 5” of rain has already fallen across the state.  However, rainfall rates have not been as heavy as some models had predicted and have been between 1” – 2” per hour.  This rainfall has caused some minor urban flooding.

Another round of moderate to heavy rainfall is expected this morning with another 1” – 3” of rain possible across the state.  This rainfall may cause additional minor to moderate urban flooding during the morning rush hour.

Some minor small stream flooding is also possible in any areas that receive over 2” of rainfall in less than 3 hours.

These heavy rainfall systems are still unpredictable, so all towns should continue to keep a close eye on the radars for any torrential downpours in their towns this morning.
