LIGHT SNOW THIS MORNING FOLLOWED BY A LIGHT MIX THIS AFTERNOON AND RAIN TONIGHT…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES ISSUED FOR THE ENTIRE STATE …
At 7:45 AM radar showed some light snow and flurries across the state. Temperatures currently range from near 20 F in northern CT to near 30 F along the coast with a light north breeze. The following forecast is based on a blend of the GFS and HRRR models:
This Morning: Light snow and flurries are expected for the next 4 – 5 hours across inland areas with a mix at the coast. The light snow may dust some roads for the morning rush hour causing a minor impact. Temperatures are expected to slowly rise thru the 20’s to around 30 in northern CT by noontime. Accumulations of less than 1” are expected across central and western CT with little or no accumulation in southeastern CT.
This Afternoon: As temperatures get close to freezing early this afternoon the light snow is forecast to change to a mix of light sleet, freezing rain and rain across the state. This light mix may cause another minor impact for the afternoon rush hour with mainly wet roads. High temperatures are forecast to reach the low to mid 30’s by late this afternoon.
This Evening and Overnight: Any mixed precipitation is forecast to change to plain rain this evening and continue overnight. Temperatures are forecast to hold in the low to mid 30’s overnight. Most roads overnight are expected to just be wet. The rain may end as a brief mix around daybreak on Tuesday. The impact on the Tuesday morning rush hour is also expected to be minor.
DESPP / DEMHS will continue to monitor conditions today.
