Director of DAS Fleet Services
Department of Administrative Services

1. What do you do?

I work in a department with 37 colleagues, and we provide comprehensive light-duty vehicle services to executive branch agencies. I am part of the administrative team that oversees vehicle acquisitions and surplus, policy compliance, safety, and vehicle maintenance and repairs.

2. Why do you work for the State of Connecticut?

Originally, I was looking for stability in my professional field. Working as an auto mechanic in a dealership setting is a stressful environment. Becoming employed with the state provided consistency and a much-improved work life balance. After being with the state for 18+ years now, it has not only provided stability, but career growth and a sense of significance in knowing what you do has a positive impact for a lot of people.

3. What is your favorite part of your job?

Providing peace of mind to anyone that may have apprehension about a next step with a situation they may be experiencing. There are so many instances in our daily lives where we could have questions and we have no clue what the answer is. Providing immediate and comprehensive guidance and partnership to anyone looking to resolve vehicle and policy related uncertainties for the mobility of their operations is my favorite.

4. Tell us about the plan to make DAS’ fleet more sustainable.

We have our sights set on a full EV fleet – a long-term transition to be clear. Many pieces remain out of place and missing to accomplish this goal, but a cadre of very smart people are working at finding the solutions, and we are steadfastly moving forwards.

5. Where is your favorite place that you have traveled?

Snow covered peaks in the northeast during winter for snowboarding. Clear, blue, peaceful.

6. What would you tell someone who is interested in working for the state?

The same thing I tell people that aren't even looking for a job with the state – what are you waiting for? Check the job classes, fill out the master application and take a chance!

7. If you could choose one superpower, what would it be, and why?

The ability to fly like Superman. I am a fan of scenery. You can watch every sunrise and sunset unobscured.

8. Where is your favorite place in Connecticut?

Anywhere outside in nature. I have mountain biked all over CT for years in the parks and preserves, and now have recently taken up golf with a more paced stroll through some wonderful scenery. It's great to be outdoors!

9. Who inspires you and why?

My inner circle - I am surrounded by the smartest most ambitious people I know. No matter how much is going on, or how new a subject is, they always make the best of it and come out on top. All while making sure to take the time to have fun with it!

10. Tell us your favorite fun fact.

When I joined the General Motors ASE program at the North Haven Gateway Community College campus in 1995, I only did it to learn how to fix the 1968 Camaro I had purchased. I had not one inkling I would still be in the field as a career 28 years later!
