Terence Shields serves as Head of Corporate Law and Assistant Corporate Secretary for The Hartford. He has held positions of increasing responsibility since joining The Hartford in 2006, currently leading legal teams dedicated to Securities and Corporate Governance, ESG, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Intellectual Property.

Shields recently assumed the role of Interim Chief Sustainability Officer, leading The Hartford’s Office of Sustainability as it supports ESG strategy, initiatives, governance and reporting across the enterprise. He supports meetings of the Board of Directors and its committees as Assistant Corporate Secretary of The Hartford's publicly-traded parent company.

Prior to joining The Hartford, Mr. Shields served as an associate in the corporate law groups of Goodwin Procter LLP and Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault LLP in Boston, MA. He earned his J.D. from Boston College Law School and his B.A. from the University of Michigan.
