Peter Brickwedde

Peter Brickwedde is Assistant Commissioner of External Affairs at the Minnesota Department of Commerce. He joined the Commerce Department in 2011 and supervises the Government Affairs, Communications, Tribal Affairs, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Senior Fraud Ombudsperson offices at the agency. He leads policy development and advocacy for the agency, representing the Commerce Department at the State Legislature as well as with local governmental units and federal partners.

Prior to joining the Commerce Department, Peter served as a Legislative Assistant in the Minnesota Senate. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Peter was a member of the Humphrey Policy Fellows Program at the University of Minnesota Humphrey School of Public Affairs in 2016. Peter lives in Minneapolis with his partner and two sons.
